Hi, I’m Thuy, the person behind Bythuy.
I’m a photo hobbyist based in the U.S., and this blog is where I keep my memories alive. I started it to hold on to the small moments that are easy to lose: a squirrel munching on an acorn in the grass, an egret lifting off from the water, a butterfly resting on a spiky white flower, a mushroom I never would have noticed if I hadn’t slowed down.
I grew up in Vietnam and moved to Missouri in the summer of 2026. Before that, I spent years working as a medical interpreter, so I’m used to carrying meaning between two languages and two cultures.
My camera goes with me everywhere I do: on trail runs and long hikes, on early coffee mornings on the porch, and on the trips that stay with me. I’m hoping to visit as many of the U.S.’s 62 national parks as I can, and I’ll share each one here.
Here you’ll find travel stories, nature and wildlife photos, and the quiet, ordinary parts of building a new life far from home: houseplants, antique shops, and the occasional pang of missing a mooncake.
If you love slow travel, small details, or just a good story with a good photo, I’m glad you’re here.
Thuy
